Pre-Practicum Field Experiences

All TEP licensure candidates are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours of pre-practicum field experiences prior to their student teaching semester.

Five education courses (described in more detail below) at the College of the Holy Cross have pre-practicum field experience as a fundamental part of their course work.  The faculty that teach these courses are committed to public education and working with our students to learn about educational issues through experiences at Burncoat Middle and High School.  Each course is separate from the other and students are expected to complete the field hours for each course.

These pre-practicum courses expect the Holy Cross students to learn more about the complexities of the work of teachers, as well as the nature of teaching and learning within the school and its community. Each Holy Cross student will be assigned a supervising practitioner at either the high school or middle school. A weekly schedule will be formalized and the students will be expected to be on time, prepared, and ready to assist their supervising practitioners.

Below find a brief description of each field experience.

There are handbooks that outline the specifics of each of these pre-practicum placements.
