"When I first began tutoring I was surprised to find that I learned just as much about my own writing as I did when being tutored.  Oftentimes I will begin tutoring and see myself in the student and see mistakes that I commonly make when I am writing.  By discussing with the student how the writing can be improved I gain a greater understanding of what produces a strong composition and motivates me to try new strategies to create a better piece of work. I also enjoy tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to explore what different classes entail and think about which ones I might like to take in the future."
