Appel à propositions de communications pour un colloque international portant sur « Relectures littéraires et re-présentations dans les arts visuels des récits sacrés ou archétypaux ». Le but du colloque sera d’examiner les écarts et les ressemblances, dans une pluralité de traditions et de cultures. Les organisateurs du colloque sont ouverts à toutes les approches théoriques et méthodologiques, pourvu que les communications portent bien sur les rapports image/langage.
Ce colloque est organisé par la revue internationale INTERFACES (lauréate 2010 du Parnassus Award), l’Université de Paris Diderot, l’Université de Bourgogne, et le College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Mass. (USA), où se déroulera le colloque. Une sélection des communications sera publiée dans INTERFACES.
Les communications seront faites en français ou en anglais.

Abstracts are solicited for paper proposals “Re-Readings and Re-Viewings of Sacred/Archetypal Narratives in Literature and the Arts.” The conference organizers are open to a wide variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, provided the presentations focus on the link between the verbal and the visual.
The aim of the Conference is to examine both the common grounds and the distinctions underscored in “Re-Readings and Re-Viewings” of sacred and archetypal narratives within traditions as well as across diverse cultures.
This event is organized by the international French/ English journal INTERFACES (CELJ 2010 Parnassus Award), the College of the Holy Cross, the Université Paris Diderot, and the Université de Bourgogne. Papers submitted for the conference will be considered for later publication in INTERFACES.
Presentations and papers can be delivered in French or English. Abstracts should be sent to

Plenary Speakers:
Paul Mariani, Award Winning Poet and University Professor, Boston College. Author of numerous poetry collections and biographies, including: Lost Puritan: A life of Robert Lowell (1996); The Broken Tower: A Life of Hart Crane (1999); Gerard Manly Hopkins: A life (2008).
Lilianne Louvel, Distinguished Professor, Université de Poitier. Her work include: L'Œil du texte, texte et image dans la littérature Anglophone (1998); The Picture of Dorian Gray, Le double visage de l'art (2000); Texte/image, Images à lire textes à voir (2002); Le tiers Pictural. Pour une critique intermédiale (2010); Poetics of the Iconotext (2011).
Michael Phillips, Scholar, print maker, Fellow at the Center for Eighteenth Century Studies, University of York. Internationally recognized expert on poet, and revolutionary painter and print maker William Blake. He has published widely on Blake, including, William Blake: The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (2011). He was guest curator of the major exhibitions of Blake at Tate Britain 2000, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art 2001, and at the Petit Palais 2009. He is currently preparing an exhibition – ‘William Blake Apprentice & Master’ – for the Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford.
Michael Phillips will also help curate a small Blake show for the Cantor Gallery at Holy Cross in conjunction with our June 2013 conference as well as offer a print making workshop for the conference participants. |
