Biography:

Amy R. Wolfson is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.  She completed her Bachelors’ degree in Psychology from Harvard University in 1982 and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Washington University, St. Louis, in 1987.  In addition, Dr. Wolfson fulfilled her APA-Approved Clinical-Child Psychology Internship at the State University of New York Health Science Center, Dept. of Psychiatry, Syracuse, NY. from 1984-1985, and was a Post-Doctoral researcher in the Psychology Department at Stanford University from 1988-1990. 

At Holy Cross, she mentors undergraduates in the field of sleep research, and has brought many trainees over the years to the Associated Professional Sleep Society (APSS) meetings.  Her research focuses on sleep/wake patterns and daytime functioning of children and adolescents.   Her timely work on adolescents’ sleep needs and school start times has been featured in numerous newspapers and other publications.  In addition, Dr. Wolfson is completing a study on women’s sleep and mood from the last trimester through 12 months postpartum and just published a book, The Woman's Book of Sleep.  On occasion, she consults, conducts workshops, and speaks with school professionals, junior and senior high school students, physicians and other health clinicians regarding child/adolescent sleep "needs", and the behavioral management of child and adolescent sleep disorders.
