Go fast in racing,
Racing is very fun!
Everyone tries not to crash.
Everyone thinks they will win!
Now, someone won the race!

Dolphins are nice.
Old dolphins are wrinkled and ugly.
Lemonades are not good for dolphins.
People love dolphins.
Holes are on dolphins.
In the ocean dolphins live.
Nutchucks are not good for dolphins.
Sea creatures dolphins.

Markeem, age 7, 2nd grade, Providence, RI

Can I make cookies to put out for Santa?
Here are the stocking’s to put on the fire place.
Read the Christmas cards from mom- mom.
I’m going to put tinsel on the tree.
Singing Christmas carols are the best.
The family is on their way to the Christmas dinner.
Making the turkey is a hard task to accomplish.
As Christmas day comes eagerness is a major factor.
Seeing all the presents under the tree gives me butterflies in my stomach.

Paige, 8th grade, Selbyville Middle School, Selbyville, Delaware.

Magic can do almost anything
Amazing is what you will think after experiencing magic
Global because magic can be used anywhere in the world
Illusion is what you see while watching magic
Cool trick” is what you will say after watching magic.

Unknown North or South America

Wisps of wind whisper lullabies to the weary sun
Into the south, the wild geese seem to say
Nestled in the shelter, the animal is ready for the almost-eternal sleep
Tired working parents fall into deep, deep dreams in front of the fireplace
Every child runs outside into the chilly snow shouting. "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...."
Retaining the warmth, not of the temperature, but the love in your heart.

-Kathleen Hu, Age 11

Halloween is spooky and scary
All are waiting for the dark
Lights are off now time to scare!
Lots of monsters everywhere
On the door step lies the pumpkin
Waiting for children with it's fiery mouth
Eek! some scream
Ever lasting laughter on the pumpkins face
Nonsense they say . But ... Is it?

Dark and dreadful and also scary
Raging, old as the great wall, and it may stay
As it was once before. It may be,
Gargantuan as a whale,
Or small as a snail,
Neither can be right because
Soon it will see the light.
