Online Resources

Our initiative to make the 3-D scans of avian skeletal elements that we generate during our studies of avian respiratory anatomy available online, has recently been funded by the National Science Foundation. We are currently in the process of designing a new database framework, through which all our skeletal holdings can be accessed. More information on the project, opportunities for collaboration, and some of the old interactive Wirefusion models, can be accessed through the Aves 3D Database link in the navigation bar on the left.

Short cineradiographic clips of alligator and bird breathing and locomotion, that we generated at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology Laboratories, are also made available for educational purposes on this website, through the X-Ray Films link.

No permission is needed by educators to include these materials in their lectures, or by students to include these materials in class projects. Please credit all materials to the Claessens lab and the appropriate journal where the films were published as supplementary information.

If you would like to use the scans or films for research or include them in publications, please contact us to seek permission prior to using these resources.
