Because it is our attempt as a society to mediate interactions among groups and individuals, the law is a uniquely effective prism through which to understand the changing face of Massachusetts. This course instigates critical thinking about the interaction between the great Hispanic migration and the laws of Massachusetts. Through the particular case of Hispanics’ experience with all aspects of the legal system, we can study the law’s rigidity and flexibility as a medium for order and change.
