Motor Control Laboratory

This class will introduce you to the concepts behind the study of the coordination and control of skilled movement. We will investigate the general questions and theories about skilled coordination (including learning and development) as well as study particular coordination activities such as locomotion, reaching and grasping, and eye-hand coordination as seen in catching and hitting. An additional goal of the class is to give you hands-on experience in the methods and tools used to study coordination. Every week (well, almost every week) we will collect movement data, analyze it and write it up the results in a small report. There is also the possibility of visits to coordination labs at other colleges.
