Psychology of Music Seminar

Why does music have the importance in people's lives that it seems to? We try to answer this question in this class by taking an interdisciplinary perspective. We will look at music from the points of view of the anthropologist, the philosopher, the physicist, the neuroscientist as well as the psychologist. We will investigate the use of music in different societies, philosophical questions about the meaning in music, how the brain processes music as well as exceptional musical abilities and disabilities and music as a vehicle for healing and self-growth.
