  Vladimir Nabokov (1899-1977)
A decorated photograph of Nabokov from Vladimir Nabokov: A Pictorial Biography by Ellendea Proffer (Ann Arbor, MI: Ardis, 1991). Nabokov claimed that he was happiest when hunting butterflies.
Nabokov at age 26, a time when he appeared as
an extra in German films made in Berlin, when
he was a Russian emigre.  Note the butterflies
that someone has drawn in the upper left corner
as well as the rays--perhaps representing genius
--that emanate from the crown of his hat.
