Father Jean-Baptiste De Coster, S. J.
(1896-1968)
Father De Coster was the administrator ("The Minister")
of the
Jesuit Residence at Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege located
at Ursulinenstraat 4 in Brussels where Jewish boys were admitted
(they were not known to be Jews) and allowed to
follow different
courses. Older Jewish boys were disguised
by wearing black
cassocks and were regarded as Jesuit novices.
Thus, these Jews
among them a mother and child, were protected
by him against
the Nazis and from seizure and deportation by the
Gestapo.
