Pilgrimage and Faith: Buddhism, Christianity and Islam
The
world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
Gerard Manley Hopkins, God's Grandeur, 1918
My primary interest
as a scholar has been the exploration of architectural context
and the art of stained glass as part of that environment.

The art of stained
glass creates architectural planes that permit illumination
while transforming the experience of general light to one meaningful to the purpose of a building. Produced by monks,
bishops, kings, and also by grieving parents, parish subscription,
and a host of anonymous patrons, these windows reveal the deepest
values of their makers. |
