Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC)
Popularly referred to as "Tully"
in 18th Century America. Lawyer, politician, and Ancient Rome's most eloquent
orator. Author of numerous orations, the most studied of which in early
America was his oration "on behalf of Milo," philosophical essays,
and letters which in themselves tell the story of Rome's turbulent political
times in the first century BC.
