PLACES, TEXTS, AND COMMUNITIES IN MEDIEVAL SPAIN.
The (conflicting) relations between medieval texts, the places in which they
were produced, and/or the communities to which these texts were addressed.
Possible directions include overt propaganda of a place, contestation of
conflicting local traditions, or textual rearticulation of communities that
attached themselves (or were forcibly attached) to a specific geographical
locus. Submit 250-word abstracts by March 15 to
Oscar Martín.
TEACHING THE SPANISH MIDDLE AGES: NEW CANONS, NEW
AUDIENCES, NEW APPROACHES. Canonical reformulations and innovations in
pedagogy, especially in light of evolving theories of cultural production,

and increased emphasis on cultural diversity in the curriculum. Submit 250-word
abstracts by March 15 to Gregory S.
Hutcheson.
