Eastern Thought

Humanities" is a weighted (honors) elective for juniors and seniors who have successfully completed the double course in World Studies (History and Literature) as sophomores.

This is the second half of the Review of Philosophy unit.  The first part will have been the review of Western Moral Philosophy in the form of a round table student directed question and answer discussion.

The purpose of this section is to review and expand knowledge acquired in 10th grade World Studies on Eastern Philosophies, and to connect these ideas with art through a study of the relationship between Tibetan religion, ritual, daily life as expressed in a variety of art forms

I:  Review Hinduism and Buddhism (chapter read/handouts) 

II: Bases of Tibetan Buddhism 
           Lecture -- ET  From (T Lewis Syllabus/World Religions) 

III: Individual research projects -- presented through art 

IV: participation projects -- make a prayer flag/mandala 

V:  Trip to Karme-Choling
