Tibetan Artifacts from Newark Museum

August 2002

Dear student,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for helping the Museum continue its research on Eastern cultures. Your skills as a researcher and your interest in Eastern cultures are extremely valuable to us, and will help other students, as well as all museum goers, in learning about this area of the world.
The artifact in front of you is from a culture steeped in history, religion, and art.  While the artifact might look strange or meaningless to you, a deeper analysis (and some oleí fashioned web surfing) will reveal an artifact with specific design and purpose.
The links on this site should provide you with all of the information necessary for you research.  The ëresearch projectsí link contains all of your directions, where you will find the purpose of the other links as well as the final expectations. The teacher resource link has information useful for your teacher to assist in your research.
As agreed upon earlier, your research will need to be organized in a user-friendly communication.  The Museum is interested in online possibilities!
Thank you again for your time and effort.  I know you will enjoy learning about your artifact and the culture from which it came....

                                                  Sincerely,
        Mr. Dabdob
