Welcome
The following website was created as a teacher implementation plan for the
NEH Summer Institute: Cultures and Religions of the Himalayan Region.
As a 7th grade World History teacher in Los Angeles, California I constantly
struggle with the lack of curriculum development in the secondary school with
regards to the Himalayan region. Throughout the Institute I was exposed
to the religions and cultures of the area, and I have created a few
lessons
to incorporate my learning at the Institute with the
California State Standards
. The main focus of the lessons is to compare and contrast Hinduism
and Buddhism. Most of the lessons are designed for middle school students
(mainly 6th and 7th grade), but can be used at any level. This
site is an ongoing project. Feedback and comments are welcome.
