Larger and smaller bands of ikat course across this striking textile, a fine example of the Timorese weaver ‘s and dyer’s art. In the wider bands: lizards inside lizards inside lizards—a reference to the continuity of families? Timor ikats have much variety of dye palette and motifs; weaving expertise remains at a high level today.
