The
SGA Book Exchange is an option provided
for students to sell and buy their books
with other students. The Book Exchange is
a service that was in the 2002-2003 academic
year by the Director of SGA Services, Joe
Campbell, under the reign of Co-Chairs Brian
Doyle and John O'Donnell. The Book Exchange
runs annually under SGA Services and has
been found to be a great success. In its
first year, over 90% of the books that were
collected were sold, and in its second year
four hundred books were collected and 95%
of the student sellers received money.
Currently, at the end of the semester students
will be able to hand in thier books to SGA
Services. Students set their own price to
sell their books (maximum price will be
set at 65% of the original price of the
book). At the beginning of the following
semester, we will hold the SGA Book Sale.
Once your book is sold, you can come to
SGA Services and collect your money! The
SGA will guarantee that you will receive
at least 10% of the new price of your book
after the SGA Book Sale.
SGA charges a small fee for books that
are sold:
For each item:
$10 - $50 there will be a service charge
of $1
$51 - $99 there will be a service charge
of $2
> $100 there will be a service charge
of $5
At present, SGA Services is investigating
the possibility of doing the Book
Exchange Online. We hope to be
able to have our Online Book Exchange up
and running in the near future. In order
to get this passed, we need student support.
If you are interested in getting involved,
or would like to support SGA Services attempt
to have an Online Book Exchange, please
