The Executive branch is charged with most
of the day to day governing of SGA.
The Chief of Staff
serves as head of the Executive Branch.
He or she is charged with maintaining the
SGA office, coordinating day to day plans
with the Co-Chairs, and serving as a conduit
for all SGA affairs.
Underneath the auspices
of the Chief of Staff, five distinct councils
comprise the Executive Branch:
- The Executive
Cabinet is comprised of Co-Chair
appointees in a myriad of different positions.
Each is on board to serve at the pleasure
of the Co-Chairs. Positions are delineated
in one of two ways: permanent and non-permanent.
Such positions as the Director of Academic
Affairs and the Director of SGA Services
are enshrined in the SGA bylaws, while
other positions are created and appointed
by the current Co-Chairs.
- House
Councils operate in each Residence
Hall. They function with SGA funding,
allowing Councils to run programming in
concert with residential assistant staff.
House councils generally consist of a
pair of co-chairs, a treasurer, and an
SGA representative. The InterHouse Council
provides an outlet for houses to communicate
on matters in other Residence Halls
-
Class Officers and Class Councils
provide a similar function for each class.
SGA provides a limited amount of funding
to each class. In turn, classes program
a minimum of one event per school year.
Class councils serve as a support system
to the class officers.
- The Committee
on College Governance provides
a forum of feedback and information for
members of various councils. The committee
serves as a clearing house for all information
generated by various committees on campus,
whether it is the Finance and Planning
Council, the Faculty Assembly, the Student
Life Council or the Community Standards
Board. This committee exists to raise
the pertinent issues.
- As established by the
Constitution and ByLaws, there are five
Executive
Committees that are required to
meet on a regular basis each semester.
Each Executive Committee is chaired by
its respective Executive Cabinet member
and works towards starting, evaluating,
promoting, and changing Holy Cross and
SGA for the betterment of the students.
Any student may attend an Executive Committee
Meeting and all students are highly encouraged
to voice their opinions at these forums.
- The SGA
Freshman Intern Program
gives freshman the opportunity to work
with members of the SGA and learn about
the organization. By using more first
year students to assist with SGA related
projects, underclassmen have more opportunities
to get involved in SGA and continue with
the organization throughout their time
at Holy Cross. Eight first year students
have been selected for the program. Look
for more information on these interns
in the Crusader.
