The current SGA
Constitution was first adopted on April
17, 2000 to create the underpinnings ofgovernment
here at Holy Cross. The Constitution serves
as the framework upon which student government
operates.
It does not operate in the minutiae of daily
operations. Instead, it focuses on the broader
structure of government. The Constitution
was amended twice in 2002 and underwent
serious revisions in the 2002-2003 academic
year, which included the creation of the
Senate.
The SGA Bylaws are a more free-form document
that operates solely at the discretion of
the Senate. The bylaws can be modified at
any time by a majority of the Senate. While
the Constitution deals with structure, the
Bylaws focus on operation. More detailed
rules and operational standards are included
in the document. The Bylaws underwent significant
revisions in the 2003-2004 academic year.
