Senate

The SGA Senate is comprised of 15 students elected by the student body.  Within the SGA, the Senate is a chamber in the bicameral legislature.  It is a forum for campus issues, in command of student budgets, and coordinates recognition for Recognized Student Organizations.

There are four standing committees within the Senate.  The Senate Budget Committee (SBC) is responsible for allocating funds to all fixed budget groups on campus.  The Senate Auditing Committee monitors club expenses and enforces the budget restraints imposed by the SBC.  The RSO Committee recognizes and classifies all campus clubs and organizations.  The Senate Executive Committee meets with officers from the Cabinet and advises on policy issues.  In addition Senate membership elects a Speaker who presides over meetings and chairs the Executive Committee.  They also elect a Legislative Secretary who ensures that all legislation is worded correctly and does not conflict with SGA by-laws or the Constitution.  The Legislative Secretary is also responsible for the minutes of meetings.

The Senate will meet every Sunday between the hours of 7 pm and 8:30 pm. Students are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate in all meetings.
