Parking Ticket Appeal Committee
As of 12AM on Thursday, February 12,
2009, all parking tickets issued to students on
campus will be subject to both the standard level of
appeal (done by Public Safety) and a new level of
appeal (done by the SGA Parking Ticket Appeals
Committee). The board will ensure that a fair means
of appeal is available to students who are issued
parking tickets on the campus of Holy Cross. The
committee will consist of students who are nominated
to the SGA Judicial Board. There will also be a
nonvoting Public Safety officer present at all
hearings in order to validate its objectivity.
In order for a case to be brought forward to the
Parking Ticket Appeals Committee, the student must
first file an initial appeal with Public Safety.
There, the ticket will go through the same appeals
process that currently exists. Public Safety can
reject, deny, or defer the appeals decision. If the
appeal is denied or deferred, the student can
contact the SGA Parking Ticket Appeals Committee by
e-mail at
judicialcouncil@holycross.edu
within 5 business days, stating name, date the
ticket was issued, date they received the decision
of the first appeal, and reason why the ticket
should be overturned. Students will then be
notified of an appointment time, which will be
sometime between 8:15-9:30PM on Thursdays. All of
this information will be attached to decisions sent
from Public Safety.
Please note that only
Holy Cross students have the right to appeal a
ticket. Holy Cross students are
allowed to appeal ticket given to a guest, so long
as the guest receiving the ticket was registered
with Public Safety. All
decisions made by the Parking Ticket Appeals
Committee will be considered final and will not be
subject to further appeal. Any student that has
their appeal denied by the board must pay the sum
indicated on the ticket.
