Meet Brian Matthews...

Class of 2007, Biology Major, Baritone Player

"The Madison High School Show Band was the best band in the Northern Hills Conference. Did we march? NO! And we loved it. Our halftime show was funny, we had fun and we practiced once a week for two hours. When I came to HC, I never even thought about marching band. But I decided to join the Pep Band for basketball season (a possible free trip to the NCAA tournament sounded great to me). And at the end of the season I was ready to pack up my playing skills for another year. But the Band (capitalized for a reason) would have no part of this. I had become attached to these people, so I got ready to take the plunge into marching. So I committed, reluctantly. But practices weren't that bad, the games were fun (silly uniforms and all) but what really kept me going were my friends. Band becomes a family that is what makes band the "Goodtime" that we say it is."
