Meet Julie Kulevich...

Class of 2008, Math Major/Pre-Med, Flute & Piccolo Player

Hometown: Maynard, MA

Favorite Pep Tune: Sweet Caroline and Irish Party in Third Class

What type of band program were you in during high school? "My band in high school was first and foremost a concert band. We played in the stands at football games and marched in town parades but we never performed a halftime show and barely used any marching commands during the parades. I was nervous about marching in a field show, having never performed in one before, but everyone in HCGTMB was so wonderful and helped me learn how to read drill charts and get used to the new marching commands."

What is your favorite thing about Marching/Pep here at Holy Cross? "It's really hard to say I have one favorite thing about Marching and Pep band here at HC, but if I have to narrow it down to one specific thing, I'd have to say it's the people. The people in band become a family and some of my closest friends at HC I met through the band. It's so much fun to hangout with these people at games, practices, band dinners, and on bus rides. I truly look forward to band because I know it means that at least for a couple hours I can take a break from classes and homework and spend some time with a great group of people who know how to have a good time together and when playing and marching, can put on an excellent performance."

What made you join the Crusader Band and why did you decide to stay with it? " I joined the Crusader Band after watching my sister perform with the band for two years prior to my coming to HC. I saw what a wonderful group it was and how much fun she had in band and I knew that if I came to Holy Cross, there would be no question to whether or not I would join the band. I stayed in band because I loved being able to play my flute in a relaxed environment and the people in band were great. I had so much fun and made so many friends in band during the first couple weeks. I knew from then on that the Crusader band was for me."
