What type of band program were you in during high school? "In high school I participated only in concert band. We didn't have a football team, so marching band wasn't an option. Concert Band was treated as a class, so three times a week we would have rehearsal during a normal class period and perform in a concert two or three times a year. Since I had never been in a marching or pep band before, I was nervous that I would have a hard time adjusting to the commands and style of marching."
What is your favorite thing about Marching/Pep here at Holy Cross? "It may sound redundant, because almost every other person has said it, but my favorite aspect about HCGTMB is the people. I joined band as sophomore, so at first I felt a little out of place. The returning members were a tight knit group, and I wasn't sure if I would "fit in", but after the first few rehearsals, I found myself feeling right at home. Some of my closest friends are in band, and that's no coincidence!"
What made you join the Crusader Band and why did you decide to stay with it? "To be perfectly honest, I joined band on a whim. One of my suitemates was recruiting freshman at the beginning of my sophomore year and I decided to go with her to the First Year Luncheon. I played the clarinet in high school, and thought band would be a great way to get involved with the college. I would never have guessed band would have become such a big part of my life. But, I suppose, once you're a band kid, you're always a band kid!"
