Team History

HC Club Hockey was established and recognized as an official student organization by the College of the Holy Cross in September of 2000.  During its inaugural season, HC Club Hockey played as a NECHA (NorthEast Collegiate Hockey Association) Associate member.  The program’s first season was successful and laid a foundation for future growth and development.  HC Club Hockey chose to compete as an ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) independent team for 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.  The HC Club  remained independent for the 2003-2004 season while also competing as an associate member of the NECHA.

Over the past four seasons, HC Club Hockey has attracted and retained an experienced coaching staff and many talented players.  The Club has also made significant improvements to the organizational and administrative aspects of the team.  Through these changes, the HC Club Hockey team has greatly improved the quality of play, as well as the dependability and reputation of the program and established many strong working relationships with other programs of similar stature.

The 2003-2004 season proved to be the Club’s most successful season both on and off the ice.  While HC Club Hockey competed against its toughest schedule to date, the program demonstrated great resilience as it replaced five graduating players with a host of young talent.  HC Club Hockey maintained all of its commitments and competed in a manner that has received positive feedback from opponents and referees from around the region.

HC Club Hockey is very excited about the 2004-2005 season.  In April 2004, the Club gained acceptance into the NECHA East.  HC Club will compete against UNH, Bryant College, MIT, Endicott College, Bates College and Bridgewater State in the most competitive regional league in the New England Area.  The Club will also be extremely competitive at the national level as they will face teams like Stony Brook University, Marist College, New York University, Montclair College, as well as many others.  2004-2005 will provide the Crusaders with the opportunity to play for a NECHA League Championship as well as make a bid for the ACHA National Tournament.
