Recap:

FLORINO SCORES GAME TYING AND GAME WINNING GOALS AS CRUSADERS SURVIVE SCARE

Tom Florino ’05 put the Crusaders on his back in the late moments of Thursday night’s game scoring shorthanded with 3:00 left in the third period to tie it and added his second goal with 3.8 seconds left on the clock in OT to propel Holy Cross to victory over Bridgewater State 6-5.  The game was a penalty filled contest with 72 total penalty minutes and 3 game disqualifications.

Holy Cross came out flat in the first period and Bridgewater scored 3 first period goals.  The Crusaders countered with two Joe Mantovani ’06 power play goals and the first period ended with the Crusaders down 3-2.  The second period was marred by 16 total penalties.  Bridgewater extended its lead to 4-2 halfway through the second.  Crusader defenseman Brendan Webb ’07 scored on a slap shot from the point to cut the HC deficit to one.  The third period opened with JP Lannon ’04 scoring a great backhand goal to tie the game at 4-4.  Bridgewater took the lead a minute and half later and held this lead until Florino’s heroics sealed the win for the Crusaders.  John Speer ’07 and Adam Hart ’06 split the goaltending duties stopping 19 of 24 Bridgewater shots.
