Recap:

Joe Mantovani ‘06 and Paul Riley ’07 led Holy Cross with two goals each as the Crusaders beat an under matched Harvard JV team 6-3.  HC got on the board first on a great individual effort by JP Lefave ’05.  Lefave made three consecutive great plays on the blue line and finally got the puck to Tom Florino ’05 who put a nice move on Crimson netminder Ed Rawlinson to put the Crusaders up 1-0.  As has been the case all year, Holy Cross woke up in the second period, outscoring the Crimson 3-1.  Joe Mantovani scored his first goal of the game 5:56 into the second as he beat Rawlinson over his glove.  Riley added his first of the night as he out-skated a Harvard defensemen and converted the partial breakaway.  With 1:10 left in the period, Will Buxton ’07 scored his first collegiate goal, as he used a Harvard defenseman as a screen and beat Rawlinson short side.  The third period opened with Mantovani adding his second goal of the game assisted by linemates Rob Clifford ’05 and JP Lannon ’04.  Harvard scored two goals in the third before Riley scored a powerplay goal from Joe Weber ’05 and Brendan Webb ’06 to seal the win for Holy Cross, 6-3.  Goaltender John Speer ’07 played excellent for the Crusaders stopping 30 of 33 shots.  This was a must win for Holy Cross as they got back on the winning track, snapping a three-game losing streak.  The win was also important as they enter this weekend’s homestand against league opponents Bridgewater State, Coast Guard Academy, and WPI.
