Recap:

The Holy Cross Club Hockey team opened its 2003-2004 season with a 5-5 tie against the Boston Jr. Blackhawks Friday night at the Hart Center.  Coaches White and Clark were impressed by the play of the freshman in their first game as Crusaders.  Freshman Frank Powers, Brendan Murphy, and Casey Turner all scored their first collegiate goals.  Paul Riley and first year players Mark McLean ’05 and Aaron Mancuso ’05 had assists.  Juniors Tom Florino and Rob Clifford each tallied a goal and an assist.  Coach White also praised the efforts of defensemen JP Lefave ’05 and Brendan Webb ‘07.  The Crusaders also had excellent goaltending with both John Speer ’07 and Peter Bartline ‘06 making fine debuts.  The Club Hockey team would like to thank all the fans that were in attendence (unofficial count 139) and would appreciate your continued support.  As associate members of the NorthEast Colegiate Hockey Association (NECHA), the team has high hopes for this season with the ultimate goal of a bid to the ACHA National Tournament in March.  The Crusaders are back in action Saturday night at the Hart Center against Western Connecticut State University at 5:00 PM.
