Recap:

The Holy Cross team won its first NECHA league game on Saturday night shutting out Western Connecticut State 8-0.  The Crusaders and Colonials skated a fairly even first period with the Crusaders scoring first on a Frank Powers ’07 goal assisted by linemates Kurt Gustafson ’04 and Tom Florino ’05.  This was the only scoring in the first.  The Crusaders took over the game in the second period out shooting the Colonials 26-5.  Joe Mantovani ’06 led the charge with 2 goals.  Paul Riley ’07 and Joe Weber ’05 both scored their first collegiate goals assisted by Mark Mclean ’05 and Chris Amenta ’06.  The third period was more of the same for the Crusaders as they continued to outskate and outplay the Colonials.  Rob Clifford ’05 had two goals and J.P. Lannon ’04 converted a nice tip-in for his first goal of the season.  The defense as a unit played a very solid game limiting the Colonials to 16 shots. Goalies Adam Hart ’06 and John Speer ’07 were both excellent in net, both recording their first shut-outs of the season.
