Inspiration
The inspiration behind the implementation of this conference was initiated
by MIX's (Multiethnic Identity Xploration) difficulties in attempting
to strengthen, organize, and properly plan programs for its members. The
obstacles we have faced in forming this new student organization sparked
a great curiosity as to whether or not other colleges and organizations
were experiencing the same difficulties as MIX had.
Purpose / Goal
Our goals are to bring an awareness of support, positive psychology, and
networking to all multicultural organizations within the Worcester Consortium;
to leave the conference with a greater sensibility of events, ideas, strategies,
and troubles with the other student groups; and to have the extra boost
of assurance and motivation to facilitate a successful 2003-2004 academic
year.
What do I get out of this conference? What is the importance?
By attending this conference, you will not only discover what is in progress
and being prepared for this coming 2003-2004 academic school year with
all the other Worcester multicultural student organizations, but you will
also develop a closer relationship with organizations outside of your
individual schools. The format of this conference is to allow dialogue
amongst other leaders of student organizations. The Sessions are arranged
in such a way that promotes the sharing of difficulties, successes, and
failures. The Sessions will provide an ample amount of opportunity to
share new ideas, programs, and future plans with other student organizations.
It is the hopes and goals of this conference for its members to leave
with a larger prospect of program ideas and recommendations for your individual
organizations and to develop the already present consortium relationships
into a stronger student coalition and support network for the multicultural
organizations.
How Can I Attend this conference?
There will be a $15 fee per organization to be made payable by August
29, 2003 for attending (late admission fee of $5 ). We will provide a
continental breakfast, banquet luncheon, and an informational packet.
We are looking for the current co-chairs, presidents, or executive board
members of your student organization to attend.
