MIX Works with Worcester Schools
to Create Educational Afterschool Program
Keep your eyes out for MIX's continued involvement in the Worcester community.
MIX, along with its networks and Patricia Kirkpatrick, a Teaching Fellow
at Citizen Schools, and YMCA of Greater Worcester, have teamed up to put
together Worcester's first identity curriculum for youth in after school
programs. The goal of the program is to encourage youth to open up and
be more receptive to different cultures and heritages, and simultaneously
to accept their own identities. The idea is to discuss these and many
more social issues and problems through dialogue with others and their
peers. MIX's role is to continue this format by being role models and
sharing our memories and experiences during younger teenage years, and
how we have grown to cope, understand, and struggle with our issues. We
anticipate using our statement of purpose to be the groundwork to help
foster a trusting, respectful and confidential educational identity curriculum.
