Here are my son and myself in the MGB before any restoration work was done.  It doesn't look too bad but a better picture would show the rot in the rocker panels and an interior which had seen better days.  Still, for a banging about car for the summer it was a real hoot.  This picture was taken just before we left for my first autocross in 25 years (It is hard to autocross in a 1982 Mercury Zephyr).  This was before I replaced the Zenith carb with a Weber and the tyres, whatever they were, with the Dunlops.  Results, first in class over 10 other MGBs.  Jessica done herself proud that day and, since then, has never finished lower than third in class against other British iron.  The only MGB to beat her was one with a Rover V8 conversion and that by only about 1 second. We have also rallyed successfully.  In the first summer I fell in love (insofar as one can love and be loved by a machine).  I think that the PO's problems came from a lack of communication with the LBC.
