Many of the links below are from your textbook. Please be aware that some of the sites are overtly political or advocacy sites. Correctly or not, I have tried to include those that are representative of the mainstream of conservation thought and efforts. The list is certainly not exhaustive. Nor is it meant as political statement. It is a series of resources that should be examined and evaluated as needed. More will be added as I get time and suggestions from the class (no outside CHC suggestions, please, unless you are someone I know).

Societies and Conservation Organizations (many or perhaps all could be said to also be environmental advocacy groups)

Wildlife Diversity and Endangered Species

Climate Change

Extinctions

Invasive Species

"Responsible Eating" --- Many of the choices of what we eat have important environmental consequences.

Advocacy -- I only include non-profit sites here that are specifically devoted to advocacy for the environment. Commercial interests are well-represented and well-funded elsewhere and they can speak for themselves. You will have no trouble finding such sites with a simple search.

Ethics and Philosophy

General Interest

Chico Mendes: a memorial to the great, martyred conservationist and information about extractive reserves and conservation

Everglades

Websites Articles Commenting on Fundamentalism Masquerading as Science -- evolution and natural selection are central organizing principles of biology, contrary to what an unfortunately large number of fundamentalists, largely in the USA, assert. Read about their beliefs and the problems, from a scientific viewpoint, of their ideas.
