These photographs are excerpts from a set taken by Major Orval C. Clark in the Spring of 1945 and reflect what he witnessed at the time of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp at Nordhausen, a sub camp of Buchenwald. The titles on the links to the photographs were not assigned to the original images and have been added here for descriptive purposes only. The Clark file, kept in the College of the Holy Cross Archives in Dinand Library, contains a total of 35 photographs but some have been omitted from this page due to their extremely brutal subject matter. Further explanation of these photographs.
