Prólogo
La educación - en su etimología y
su práctica - es un llevar más allá, un constante ir y
venir de lo conocido a lo desconocido, hacia la revelación, hacia la
creatividad. El presente número de fósforo rinde homenaje
a los que han escogido Holy Cross como etapa de su educación.
fósforo 7 incluye noticias de antiguos alumno y profesores
lectores de lengua (FLAs) cuyos recuerdos del estudio de español en Holy
Cross acompañan sus carreras. Una selección de obras de miembros
de la comunidad universitaria muestra la chispa de creatividad vital que se
manifiesta en Holy Cross y, en el tercer apartado (págs. 87-95), el
intercambio entre estudiantes y artistas establecidas revela el funcionamiento
de la educación, que encamina a los estudiantes hacia nuevas dimensiones
de creatividad y expresión. Esta breve muestra del aprendizaje en Holy
Cross, pasado, presente y futuro, confirma que la educación no
sólo dura una vida, sino que se convierte en un aspecto de la vida

Prologue
Education - etymologically and in practice - is
a leading forth, an onging crossing of the borders of the known to the unknown,
to revelation, to creation. This year's edition of fósforo is a
tribute to those who have chosen Holy Cross as a waypoint in their education.
Fósforo 7 includes news from alumni-students and Foreign Language
Assistants (FLAs) alike-who have taken their memories of studying Spanish Holy
Cross with them to careers all over the world. A selection of works by current
members of the college community presents something of the vital creativity
that has been sparked here, and in Part three (pp. 87-95), the interplay
between students and established artists shows the process of education at
work, leading students forth to new realms of creativity and expression. These
snapshots of learning at Holy Cross, past, present, and future, demonstrate
that education not only lasts a lifetime, but becomes a part of life itself.
