Exploring the Human Geography of Himalayan Waterways by Geoffrey Wingard

Teacher's Guide to the Regional Study

  • Once students have completed the tutorials and any other teacher directed exercises they are directed to the Regions page where they choose or are assigned a "Team" for further research based on a river-system and elevation-region.
  • From the Regions page students link to their Himalayan Rivers Regional Study, a five page series of exercises intended to take them through basic data acquisition to analysis and evaluation of the subject material.

  • Final Exercise: As a final exercise, teachers are encouraged to have students share the results of their Regional Studies with their peers.  In this way students will get an overview of life throughout the region and will be able to make connections between areas similar elevation and watershed and to make connections across regions and elevation zones.
