Tibet Part 1: Geographic Location Objective: Students will be able to locate the Tibetan region on a world map. Materials: Oversized map (created in the Mapping the Himalayan Region lesson), markers, atlas, click here for an online image of Tibet's location, or click here for a physical and politcal image of Tibet. Click here for a basic overview of Tibet. Procedure: Using an atlas or a printout of the online image of Tibet's location, students will draw Tibet onto their oversized map.
Part 2: Language Objective: Students will be able to count to ten as well speak several basic conversational phrases in Tibetan. Materials: Use the following links to access information about how to write and speak Tibetan. Procedure: During the unit on Tibet, use basic Tibetan phrases and method of counting in lieu of English.
