Videos about Tibet

In my experince teaching a senior elective Comparative Religions class for the last seventeen years, students have a very difficult time picturing Tibet. It is an elusive and remote place to them geographically, ethnically, religiously, politically; indeed, in almost every way. While I do not like to use too many videos in my course, showing videos about Tibet is one of the key elements of my pedagogical method. Using them, if they are good, can be a very effective way of presenting the various aspects of Tibetan culture and religion and politics.

In this web site I will offer some comments and curriculum materials such as maps, question and answer sheets, vocabulary lists, discussion questions, etc. that can be used with each video. These videos have been selected after watching many videos about Tibet. They offer accurate information and are readily availabe from educational resources or film archives.
