Students are grouped homogeneously in 3 or 4. On the board show the list of important vocabulary words students should have mastered by the end of the unit. Each word is next to a number. (Feel free to alter the list to match the word wall the students have created throughout the unit.)
Each student comes up and selects a ping pong ball for their group. The ball displays a number and part of speech. Each student has their own colored pencil or marker and the group has a sheet of legal-sized paper. Each student must create a sentence with one of the words their group has selected. They may switch ping pong balls.
Giving each student a different color marker ensures that each student must contribute something to this activity. They then each read a group members sentence aloud to the class. Again this helps to get students involved in the activity.
