Feminist Appropriations of Kali

1. Some other examples include a “web-zine” published by some students at Wellesley College, called “Women of Kali,” with the subtitle, “We shall not be subdued!”  (The web-zine deals with anti-pornography issues and images of women); see http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/Garden/1073/.

2. For another example, see the history of a large feminist bookstore in Eugene, Oregon:
“Mother Kali's Books was founded during the most vibrant period in the women's movement, in one of its liveliest areas—Oregon—where feminist communities known as “women's land” were springing up everywhere… Mother Kali's Books has grown and changed with the times, but continues her commitment to “celebrating women's lives in all their diversity.”
