Dr. Claudia Ross is Professor of Chinese at the College of the Holy Cross,  and Coordinator of the Chinese program. She received her Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Michigan and is the author or lead author of several language textbooks and reference grammars for CFL learners including Modern Mandarin Chinese Grammar and the Routledge Course in Modern Mandarin. She is a past-president of the Chinese Language Teachers Association has held various leadership positions in the organization. She was the Principle Investigator for the 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 STARTALK residential program "Read On: Training Modules for Literacy in Chinese" and has conducted Chinese language teaching workshops at ACTFL and at regional Chinese language teacher associations.

Dr. Baozhang He is Associate Professor of Chinese at the College of the Holy Cross. He received his Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics from the Ohio State University, and has authored and co-authored several Chinese language textbooks and many articles on pedagogy as well as theoretical linguistics. He served for seven years as the Director of the Chinese Program at Harvard University, and has been involved in teacher training and Chinese language instruction for decades. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Chinese Language Teachers Association and is currently a member of the editorial boards of a number of academic Journals.  He has served as the Program Coordinator of the "Read On: Training Modules for Literacy in Chinese," in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.  

Dr. Meng Yeh is the Associate Director of the Center for the Study of Languages and Intercultural Communication at Rice University and has extensive experience working with K-16 teachers. She is an OPI certified tester for ACTFL’s Language Testing International, and, as an AP consultant for the College Board, she has offered numerous workshops for K-16 teachers.  She has served as a consultant for school districts and college Chinese programs and is the chair of the Chinese SAT committee.  She has served as a board member of the national Chinese Language Teachers Association and is the founder of the CLTA-Texas. She co-authored the AP Chinese textbook Chaoyue: Advancing in Chinese (2009) and the two-level Chinese textbook series the Routledge Course in Modern Mandarin (2010, 2011). She has served as the Lead Instructor of the "Read On: Training Modules for Literacy in Chinese" in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. 


Brooke Cheng teaches Chinese Language at Barrington Middle School in Barrington, IL. She has developed and designed theme based Chinese curriculum for the middle school level which aligns with high school curriculum. Ms. Cheng is an active member of the Midwest Chinese Teacher Association and helps promote Chinese learning in Chicago land. Ms. Cheng has an M.A. in Elementary Education from National Louis University, and a M.A. in Speech Communication from California State University, Fullerton

Kevin Chang has over 15 years of service as a Chinese immersion teacher and heads the Chinese faculty as Chinese Program Director at Chinese American International School (CAIS) in San Francisco. His work in Chinese as a foreign language educator has included leading the Hanban-NAIS Acculturation Training for guest teachers in 2007 and 2008 and mentoring a variety of Chinese language teachers between 2006 and 2015 at various Startalk Teacher's Programs, including the "Read-On" program in 2012 and 2015. He also has presented on a variety of topics in Chinese curriculum and instruction at different events hosted by NAIS, NCLC, ASCD, CASLAR,

Dr. Ke Peng is an assistant professor of Chinese in the Department of Modern Languages at Western Kentucky University. She has been teaching Chinese at the college level since 2003. Dr. Peng's research interests include second language acquisition and teaching, program development, assessment of online instruction, and teacher training. She has served as the 13+ Team Leader in the "Read-On" STARTALK program since 2013. Dr. Peng received her Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Arizona.

Sara Che-Hsuen Chao teaches Chinese language at New Trier Township High School in Winnetka, IL.Ms. Chao has been actively involved in STARTALK programs in Illinois and Massachusetts where she has successfully managed STARTALK teacher and student programs in Chinese since 2010. She is currently serving on the Board for Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools and has served as Past President of Chinese teacher organizations in Illinois. She has also worked with The College Board as an AP Chinese Language and Culture Test Reader. Ms. Chao holds an Administrative License in Illinois and received a M.A. in Literacy Education as well as a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Northern Illinois University.
