Upgrading with Run-time Java Interpreters

Being able to run simulations independent of a web browser can be very useful. However, it requires that you have a Java interpreter installed on your machine. These often come as part of a larger development system and they can be a bit difficult to install.

We have tested run-time versions of the simulations on Macintosh machines running system 7.6 and 8.x.

Download Sites

• Macintosh: Apple's MRJ, which is a snap to install, can be obtained by pressing here. Once in place, it is invisible. To run a Java application, simply double click the icon.
• For Windows32: either Sun Microsystems or Microsoft's JIT will work. Follow the instructions carefully that come with the software.
  • Download Sun's Java Interpreter
  • Download Microsoft's Java Interpreter
  • If you sucessfully install Java on your windows or sun machine, please send me email (kprestwi@holycross.edu) and I'll provide you with the class files; however, beyond that, you'll be on your own.
