Throughout our interviews, we discovered that many Quinsigamond residents
had kept a variety of artifacts from their lives during World War
II. They very graciously allowed us to use them for this website.
These objects paint a vivid picture of their lives during the war.
Enlistment and discharge papers tell the stories of the many men who
went off to fight. Ration booklets, stamps, and instructions illustrate
the way the war governed the home. Letters, cards, and telegrams reveal
how Quinsigamond residents kept in touch with their family and with
those abroad. And pictures of the area let us enter, for a moment,
the Village.
Please explore these artifacts to enhance your understanding of life
in the Village during World War II.
