Silk Road

The Indian Subcontinent's major contribution to the world by means of the Silk Road was the idea of Buddhism. Today, Buddhism is the major religion of most east Asian countries. When teaching about the Silk Road in the past, I've found that it is so far removed from my student's lives that they have a very difficult time understanding the concept of the Silk Roads, making connections, and visualizing the places.

The links below are provided for teacher & student background information, maps and timelines about the Silk Road. At the bottom of this page, I have included a novel unit with accompanying power point presentations using the novel Between the Dragon and the Eagle by Mical Schneider.
