Art Lessons

Tibetan Art Lessons

Nepalese Art Lessons

Bhutan Art Lessons

Indian Art Lessons

** My focus will be to emphasis the importance of artifacts and art images spreading the teachings of Hindu-Buddhism to the Monastic population, as well as, to the non-literate peoples spreading from India to Nepal to Tibet to Bhutan to China over centuries of travel on the Silk Road. Imbedded within my lessons will be the nuances of symbolic icons and color useage to meet the needs of heavily populated, as well as, isolated Himalayan peoples. I hope to show visual images that can be printed and displayed in the classroom and new cafetorium. These images will also provide sources for drawing and printing assignments.

**I will provide images that show strong use of color in Nepalese Thangkas, sophisticated iconography within Tibetan sculptures, and vivid demonic paintings of the Bhutanese-Tibetan culture. I will provide early examples of Buddhist images that borrowed strong Hindu influences that metamorphed later into stikingly different, although thoroughly recognizable, teaching tools. Once again, books within the classroom, calendars, and color printed images will assist students in a variety of art processes.
