Lesson 1: Himalayan Architecture

In this lesson students will study architecture from around the world from different times and cultures,and compare it with their own houses and community buildings.

Students will create a drawing that will result in an architectural rendering of a personal or community use building. This lesson could also result in a 3-D model building project.

Lesson Objectives:

Knowledge students will gain:

  • Architecture varies throughout the world.
  • Buildings are designed around function and geographic conditions.
  • Buildings are designed for personal and community use.
  • Some civilizations use moveable structures.
  • Architects design buildings as a career.
  • Basic geometric shapes are employed in the design of buildings.
  • Buildings originated because of the need for shelter and comfort.
