Kusinagar, India: Place of Buddha's Death (Parinirvana)

Kusinara/Kusinagara/Kushinagar is the site of the Buddha's death, also known as parinirvana. It is here that the Buddha reclined between two trees as the chosen site for his final rest.
After reassurance from his disciples that they had no further questions, the Buddha took his rest.

The Mahaparinirvana Stupa marks the site today and is the location of the six meter long reclining Buddha in the parinirvana posture.
