Teaching Culture Through Graphics

The objective of the linked lessons is to introduce students in grades 7 - 12 to the culture and geography of the Himalayan Region. The projects are designed for students who already have some familiarity with Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Flash MX 2004; however, some lessons can be easily adapted for use in a simpler graphics program such as Ms Paint. The "Coloring Mandalas" lesson, for instance, could be modified for students in elementary school if Ms Paint was chosen as the graphics program.

Although the projects on this site are designed for use in a graphics or computer technology course, they can also be used as lessons to supplement courses in other disciplines.
